duck weather

Here is the situation just a mile or two south of us. And the situation 2/3 of a mile east of us. And the situation two miles north of us.

So you see we have a lot of water running everywhere. And we've talked about being tempted, if we didn't have four small children, to see how far we could get in the canoe. And school is two hours late this morning. For seven inches of rain. But, if this translated to snow, we'd have 70 inches. All in one 24-hour session.

We drove around a little, partly to find an alternate road to town from our place and to gawk at which roads, intersections and lowlands were under huge amounts of rushing water.  Sam and Anneka were slightly concerned that their lives were in danger. I assured them that I wouldn't drive anywhere that wasn't safe. As we were discussing whether to cross over one section of road where the water wasn't exactly gushing but was moving, I heard Anneka mumble in the back seat, "This isn't safe."

You guys just can't seem to escape the moisture: snow for 6 months and rain for 6 months! What adventures to be had.
